J. Cole’s debut mixtape, The Come Up (2007), is now available on streaming services. The release coincides with the launch of his new 10-part audio series, Inevitable, which explores his career project by project. The first episode focuses on The Come Up.
Announcing the release on Instagram, J. Cole shared the mixtape’s cover art, writing: “The beginning. The Come Up finally available now on DSP’s.” His manager, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, added: “17 years later. Better late than never. This started everything off.”
The Come Up includes 17 tracks, such as “School Daze,” “Simba,” and “Dollar and a Dream,” and features beats borrowed from artists like Nas, JAY-Z, and Kanye West.
Speculation suggests The Warm Up and Friday Night Lights may follow as Inevitable’s forthcoming episodes focus on these projects. Season 1 covers J. Cole’s journey up to 2014 Forest Hills Drive.
In the series, co-hosted with Ibrahim Hamad and Scott Lazer, J. Cole reflects on his career, personal growth, and challenges faced along the way. The series also includes released and unreleased music.
