Ahead of his 40th birthday, J. Cole has debuted his own blog, The Algorithm, on his Inevitable website. Announced on January 27, the blog takes inspiration from Kanye West’s blog-era days and serves as a space for Cole to share personal musings and things he enjoys with a smaller audience than social media.
In his first post, Cole reflected on his desire to start a blog, writing: “Been wanting a lil blog for years. Somewhere to post random shit I fuck with… Finally pulled the trigger.” He shared his first post with Ahmad’s 1994 track Back in the Day, a song he’s loved since childhood, and hinted at more reflective posts to come.
Fans speculate Cole’s comment about 2025 being a “good one” could signal the release of his long-awaited album, The Fall Off, which he suggested might drop before the Dreamville Festival in April. At his 2014 Forest Hills Drive anniversary concert in December, Cole hinted: “Hopefully I’ll have something new to perform for y’all.”
Cole’s blog follows in the footsteps of other rappers like Kanye West, who ran KanyeUniversecity.com until 2010, and Tyler, The Creator, who blogged from 2007 to 2010 before transitioning to global fame. Fans can read The Algorithm on Cole’s official Inevitable site.
