While promoting his new track with Bas, J. Cole has shared some of his favorite travel moments, including a vacation he had with Canadian producer T-Minus that he claims helped him get “back outside.”
The head of Dreamville posted a clip from the “Passport Bros” music video on Instagram on Wednesday, July 19. “New @bas featuring me ‘passport bros’ [nine fire emojis],” he captioned the picture. Man, this song will always make me think of Barcelona and @tminus bachelor party, which made me go outside.
“Also the Tokyo trip that simultaneously didn’t happen and did happen [three laughing with crying emojis],” he continued. New record from Bas is coming soon; the band’s motto is “we only talk about real shit when we’re fucked up.” By the way, @dzl.6 and @aziztheshake produced this sheeeeeeesh.
We Only Talk About Real Shit When We’re Fucked Up, Bas’s future album, has no release date as of yet, but “Passport Bros” is probably a preview of it.
Cole has established a reputation as one of the most important components of contemporary hip-hop, which is why even Drake wants to collaborate with the Fayetteville native. The Canadian star, who has been among the best musicians in the world for more than a decade, isn’t beyond asking his friend and fellow artist for a favor.
On Saturday, July 15, 6 God stunned the crowd at his It’s All A Blur Tour stop in Montreal by substituting Cole for 21 Savage, just as he had done the night before. During a brief break, Drizzy discussed Cole’s next album and begged for a spot on it with the support of the entire audience.
“Perhaps I could make the album?” Drake questioned with eagerness, which caused J. Cole to respond with an understanding: “N-gga!”
“Can I be included on the album? In front of Montreal, I will inquire. “Can we be on J. Cole’s album?” As the audience applied further pressure to the Dreamville founder, who eventually bowed down, Drake proceeded. He commanded Drake, “Say less, goddammit!”
Drizzy called on the crowd one again to express love to his longtime buddy and collaborator before getting a space and leaving the stage.
He said, “Montreal, I want you to comprehend something. It takes a special person to board an aircraft, travel here for two nights, and represent Montreal. That person must also truly love all of you.
Make some muthafuckin’ noise for my brother, Jermaine Cole, who is all the way from the ‘Ville. Please raise your voice as loudly as you can.
