J. Cole Applauds New Female Rappers For Flooding Hip Hop With 'Fire Moments'

The current generation of female rappers, according to J. Cole, are to blame for some of the best and most thrilling moments in Hip Hop right now.

The frontman of Dreamville made the remarks during a sit-down with Kevin Hart for his Hart To Heart program on Peacock, where he discussed his opinions on the condition of hip-hop at the time.

Cole answered, “I believe it to be fire.” It’s a completely different game, with a completely new crop of upcoming superstars and styles. I’ve been thinking this for maybe a year or two, and although it almost seems like pandering, I actually do believe that there are a lot of hot female rappers right now.

“I feel like they’re doing some of the most exciting [stuff], commercially — they’re giving us a lot of fire moments and I feel like that’s something that wasn’t around when we were growing up.”

You always had Lil Kim and Foxy [Brown], but it seemed like there could only ever be one of each. We’re getting moments now, man, moments now, moments now. It seems difficult to me.

Women in hip-hop have made significant strides in recent years thanks to newcomers like Ice Spice, GloRilla, Latto, Coi Leray, Sexyy Red, and Scar Lip as well as more seasoned talents like Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and City Girls.
