Interscope Geffen A&M Records has released Homecoming SZN Compilation Vol. 2, the next vinyl-exclusive album in its yearlong HBCU campaign. This year, the label is partnering with Hampton University, Clark Atlanta University, and Alabama State University for special homecoming activations.
The compilation, featuring custom vinyl artwork for each university, includes tracks from Kendrick Lamar (“TV Off”), GloRilla (“BOP”), Rob49 (“WTHelly”), and Eve (“Tambourine”). A consumer edition is available at select retailers and the project’s website, with $3 from each vinyl sale donated to the corresponding university. Additional funding will support campus initiatives.
Hampton University president Darrell K. Williams said, “Homecoming is a treasured tradition… Music has always been a powerful bridge between generations, and this collaboration gives our students a chance to showcase their creativity while connecting with a legacy that extends far beyond our campus.”
The HBCU campaign launched last October with Howard University, Tennessee State University, and Texas Southern University. To mark the first anniversary and Vol. 2’s release, Interscope will host a pop-up student event at Howard University on Oct. 22, featuring DJ Blaccmass, giveaways, and surprise artist appearances. Clark Atlanta University will host a performance by Big Boogie on Oct. 22 and a pop-up takeover during homecoming weekend Oct. 24-25.
Laura Carter, executive VP/head of urban marketing at Interscope, said, “We’re thrilled to build on the momentum of Vol. 1 and expand this meaningful initiative… HBCUs have been a bedrock of culture and creativity, and this initiative is about honoring that legacy.”
