Two unexpected Club Renaissance performances by Beyoncé this weekend in Los Angeles, presented in collaboration with Amazon Music, sold out in a matter of minutes.
The special events are scheduled to occur at a location that will only be disclosed to confirmed guests on Saturday (December 17) and Sunday (December 18). The event, which might turn out to be a listening event rather than a Beyoncé performance, is still unknown.
On Thursday, December 15, a flyer for the event was released on the official social media accounts for Amazon Music and the streaming service’s ROTATION playlist, informing fans of the Club Renaissance dates.
Beyoncé fans who registered for Renaissance updates at the time of the album’s first announcement in June also received email or text message alerts. There are no social media posts about the event on Beyonce’s accounts. The free tickets for Club Renaissance were gone in a matter of minutes.
A note advising individuals wishing to attend the 21 and up event that each buyer was limited to one ticket, available via a unique Club Renaissance landing page, was linked with the Club Renaissance brochure, which welcomed fans to “experience Renaissance in spatial audio.”
Fans were instructed to RSVP for the event on the website after being reminded of the minimum age restriction and the ticket limit, with the disclaimer that guests would need to provide identification proof in order to be admitted.
“TICKETS ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE/NON-RESALE. ID REQUIRED FOR ENTRY,” read the terms and conditions included in the event description. “NAME ON THE ID MUST MATCH THE TICKET OR YOU WILL BE DENIED ENTRY INTO THE EVENT. RE-SOLD OR TRANSFERRED TICKETS WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE DEEMED NULL AND VOID, NO EXCEPTIONS.”
Fans were forced to use the REAL ID verification system to verify their age in order to RSVP on either day. Fans went to the Amazon Music and ROTATION Instagram postings during the rush to get tickets to complain about problems with the authentication process that prohibited them from accessing tickets when they became available.
A waitlist had been added as of the time of publication for the Club Renaissance event on Saturday, however, a pop-up box informed guests that the REAL ID system was offline.
Beyoncé hosted “Club Renaissance,” a private party with a Studio 54 theme, in August to commemorate the release of her seventh studio album. Leonardo DiCaprio, Kendrick Lamar, Janelle Monae, Yara Shahidi, and JAY-Z were among the A-list attendees.
According to Variety, Sony Music also sponsored “Club Renaissance” events abroad. Fans were able to attend these events thanks to regional Sony Music offices’ social media contests. Queen Bey made a surprise appearance for those in attendance in Paris, along with other well-known guests like Tyler the Creator, Halsey, and Doja Cat.
Since the release of her number-one album, Renaissance, on July 29, Beyoncé fans have been eagerly awaiting news of a Renaissance tour. The only indication that one may be in the works so far comes from a screenshot of an auction item at the fifth annual Wearable Art Gala, which was hosted by Tina Knowles-Lawson, the superstar’s mother, in October.
According to the auction’s description, the prize package included two United Airlines First Class International Polaris tickets, three nights at a Marriott hotel, and two tickets to the play of their choice. A guided backstage experience with Ms. Tina is also included in the package, which has a $20,000 value.
