Iggy Azalea Sells Catalog For 8-Figure Deal

Iggy Azalea has disclosed that she has sold her publishing catalog and master recordings for a sum that, in Iggy’s words, “means I don’t have to work another day in my life.”

According to a story in Billboard that was based on “a person close to the deal,” Azalea’s contract with Domain Capital Group covered all of the artist’s shares in her current catalog. The report also stated that the agreement included a “trigger” for potential future masters earnings.

The precise value of the deal has not been disclosed, as is common with news of this kind. Nevertheless, the sale was referred to in the report as an “eight-figure deal.” While the artist now owns the whole Bad Dreams label, a new distribution agreement is soon to be unveiled.

Taylor Swift’s master recordings dispute was brought up in tweets about the catalog deal, but Iggy opposed the comparison by emphasizing that Swift “did not profit” from the sale.

“I sold a portion of my catalog to who I wanted, for an amount that means I don’t have to work another day in my life,” Iggy said, adding that the ins and outs of the larger masters discussion are “a little beyond” most fans’ level of industry knowledge.

Iggy’s third studio album, The End of an Era, was released in August 2017 by Empire and Bad Dreams. As of March 2020, the RIAA has awarded “Fancy,” her massive 2014 single with Charli XCX, an eight-time platinum certification.
