Ice Spice Lands Voice Role in New SpongeBob SquarePants Movie

Ice Spice is stepping into animation with her voiceover debut in The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, arriving in theaters December 19. The new trailer, released November 13, features the Y2K rapper as a fish working at Bikini Bottom High School, complete with an Annie-style wig that mirrors her signature look. Her character’s line — “Don’t make me call security” — is already circulating online, and her song “Big Guy” appears on the film’s soundtrack.

This marks Ice’s second film appearance of the year following her role in Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest. She joins longtime SpongeBob star Tom Kenny, along with George Lopez, Regina Hall, Sherry Cola, and others for the fourth installment in the franchise.

The movie follows SpongeBob as he attempts to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs by chasing the Flying Dutchman on a deep-sea adventure that pushes him farther than ever before.

Ice’s involvement feels fitting: her 2023 breakout track “Bikini Bottom” was inspired by the show’s sound and setting, making this voice role a full-circle moment.
