Ice Cube has received praise from 50 Cent for reaching a new milestone in his groundbreaking BIG3 basketball league.
Thanks to Ice Cube’s leadership, the BIG3 was acknowledged as the first Black-owned major sports league in the United States prior to the 6-on-3 league’s sixth season this summer.
The West Coast veteran was honored by 50 on Friday (June 16) in a post to Instagram. “Ice Cube has done some great shit over the years creating a path artist from our culture can follow,” 50 wrote.
Given everything he has accomplished in all facets of entertainment, many flocked to 50 Cent’s comment area to agree that Ice Cube ought to get his roses more frequently while he is still alive to smell them.
“The list of the greatest should go beyond rap. One user wrote: “Ice Cube is debatably on the Mount Rushmore, while another said: “No cap. He should be celebrated more!”
Snoop Dogg recently supported his claim that “No Vaseline” was the best battle diss song ever created in Hip Hop, giving his fellow West Coast rap peer some high accolades.
He puts his hands down. Nothing even comes close,” Tha Doggfather remarked under an AllHipHop Instagram picture, and DJ Tony Neal, the brainchild of the Core DJs collective, concurred. Nothing comes close, besides “Hit ‘Em Up.”
Currently, Ice Cube is putting the finishing touches on an unprecedented BIG3 season that will give viewers an inside peek at the league through a new docuseries.
The 2023 season is scheduled to begin on June 25 and last for 10 weeks, stopping in Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas, NYC, Detroit, Memphis, and Miami among other cities across the nation.
Ice Cube said in a statement, “After two years of a semi-touring model, we are finally able to safely return to cities across the country and bring the BIG3 back to the size of arenas where our fans want us the most.”
“Following record ratings and multiple sold-out games, we have incredible momentum going into the sixth season. We’ve been working hard this offseason to put together the best season yet, and we can’t wait to show these cities what the BIG3 is all about after receiving ByBlack certification, renewing our contract with CBS, and adding all-star players.
The 2023 BIG3 Championship Game is set for August 26 and will be televised this summer on CBS and Paramount+.
