HYBE America has officially sold its Nashville-based rock imprint, Big Machine Rock, to Gebbia Media. The label, home to acts like Daughtry, Badflower, and Sammy Hagar, will continue operating under founder Scott Borchetta, who will also join the advisory board of Siebert Financial—Gebbia’s parent company.
Borchetta founded Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) in 2005, which was acquired by Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings in 2019, and later by HYBE in 2021 as part of a $1.05 billion deal. Big Machine Rock’s roster and leadership remain intact, with GM Heather Luke-Husong staying on to lead the label’s all-female team, credited with delivering No. 1 singles and Platinum records.
Gebbia Media, acquired by Siebert in 2023, focuses on music, sports talent, catalog acquisition, and cross-platform storytelling. The acquisition of Big Machine Rock is framed as a key step in Gebbia’s media expansion, blending cultural relevance with financial backing.
Siebert CEO John J Gebbia described the deal as part of the company’s mission to innovate at the “intersection of Finance and Culture.” David Gebbia, CEO of Gebbia Media, emphasized plans to reinvigorate rock for new generations.
The move comes as HYBE America continues restructuring. Recent acquisitions include Confirmed360, QC Media Holdings, and The Agency Group PR, while HYBE’s parent company recently agreed to sell its stake in K-Pop rival SM Entertainment to Tencent Music for nearly $180 million.
