Homelander From "The Boys" Sampled By Metro Boomin On The "On Time" Track

For a crucial track on his most recent album, HEROES & VILLIANS, Metro Boomin sampled the popular Amazon Prime original superhero dramedy The Boys.

A little excerpt of Homelander’s explosive statement on heroism from episode two of the third season is used in the John Legend-influenced song “On Time,” which acts as the entrance to the multi-platinum producer’s most recent album and was published on Friday (December 2).

At the conclusion of AP’s improvised guest appearance “Superhero,” the Chris Brown and Future-led follow-up tune, is introduced with the foreboding operatic vocals and a sample of Homelander’s unapologetic rhetoric from “A$AP Rocky.”

“I’m done,” said Homelander, whose character is portrayed by actor Antony Starr. “I am done apologizing. I am done being persecuted for my strength. You people should be thanking Christ that I am who and what I am because you need me. You need me to save you.”

The 15-song Metro Boomin project includes cameos from John Legend, A$AP Rocky, Chris Brown, and Future in addition to featured guest rhymes from 21 Savage, Don Toliver, Travis Scott, Young Thug, and Gunna. A posthumous appearance is also made by the late Migos artist Takeoff, whose alleged killer was apprehended on December 2 in connection with his November shooting death.

Because of what the dynamic duo has in store for their combined fans, Metro Boomin stated why he didn’t appear on Pluto’s chart-topping record I NEVER LIKED YOU last April during an interview with Ebro Darden in support of his album. Future and Metro Boomin have a long history together.

“Let me tell you why.” “[Future] actually finished most of the album at my studio in LA,” Metro said. “That’s my brother, but we’re working on some things.” At first, we were going to put a couple of songs with me and him on the album, but we took them off because I had talked to him.”

He continued: “I was like, ‘Look, the last time anybody’s really heard a song from me and you was ‘Mask Off.’ So instead of us randomly throwing one or two songs, we did on here, we got to wait and just give them a joint.’”
