Gunna has released yet another new music video from his album a Gift & a Curse, this time for the song “I Was Just Thinking” to go along with it.
One of the greatest songs on the album, “I Was Just Thinking,” addresses the barrage of snitching accusations that Gunna has been subjected to since pleading guilty to a single racketeering conspiracy charge associated with the YSL RICO case in December.
On “I Was Just Thinking,” where he admits to crying over Young Thug’s predicament and the “lies” people have been saying about him, Gunna reiterates his insistence that he didn’t snitch on anyone. He first made this claim on the song when he first dropped it.
Four walls are speaking to you and telling you to leave. Only I did so because I was grieving for my brother (King Slime). I know you hear the falsehoods; it’s your little brother, my people. And you know my mind; you’ve seen that n-gga grow. He raps in the video as four walls begin to shut in around him, evoking the atmosphere of a solitary confinement jail cell. “Yeah, I had popped out, but don’t let ’em say I told,” he sings.
The new video follows Gunna’s last week release of a Gift & a Curse, his first studio album since 2022’s DS4EVER and his first since his December release from prison. Due to the time he spent behind bars following his arrest in May of last year as part of the broad indictment against YSL, which the prosecution claims is a “criminal street gang,” Gunna was given a sentence of five years with one year served.
Additionally, Gunna’s music isn’t as well-liked as it once was. A few weeks after the DJ opted to play some of Gunna’s signature songs, the Atlanta club came to a complete standstill, with several patrons shown on film not even bobbing their heads along.
