Gunna and Asake will headline the 2025 Afro+ Fest in Washington, DC, taking place on Sunday, August 31, at the RFK Festival Grounds. The event will showcase a mix of artists across the African diaspora, including Foggie Raw, Shenseea, Shy Glizzy, and Uncle Waffles.
Organizers describe Afro+ Fest as the East Coast’s first large-scale festival focused on the full range of global Black music and culture. The festival will span genres such as hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats, amapiano, dancehall, and soca, reflecting a decade-long effort to build a space that celebrates the global Black community.
Founder Michael Awosanya called it “the block party we’ve dreamed about for a decade,” noting that the festival is also meant to support local businesses and creatives.
Tickets are currently on sale. The full lineup includes Gunna, Asake, Gabzy, DJ Tunez, Foggie Raw, Machel Montano, Ricky Platinum, Shatta Wale, Shenseea, TXC, Uncle Waffles, Wande Coal, and special guest Shy Glizzy.
