03 Greedo expressed his gratitude to Lil Uzi Vert after previously disclosing that the Philadelphia rapper was one of those who restrained him during his latest attempt to enter prison.
After entering a plea deal in Texas to charges involving a pistol and drugs, 03 Greedo was given a 20-year jail term in 2018. The rapper, whose release date was initially set for 2026, first qualified for parole in 2020, with a 2038 maximum sentence year. He completed his five-year sentence in early January and was then freed.
03 Greedo recently talked about his ascent to popularity, his time in prison, and how his success has affected others around him in an interview with the Millon Dollaz Worth of Game podcast.
He was asked by hosts Gillie Da Kid and Wallo if his friends kept in touch with him and supported him while he was doing his sentence, and he specifically mentioned rapper Lil Uzi Vert.
Greedo claimed that Uzi “did the whole time with him.” (It should be noted that Lil Uzi Vert uses the pronouns they/them and is non-binary. He claimed that occasionally, despite being busy, he would rush to respond to him.
The rapper even recalled an instance in which Uzi handed him $10,000 in commissary funds after he merely contacted him to inquire about his pal. He inquired, “I’m just seeing how you are.”
Greedo continued, “I ain’t say I’m down terrible [or anything], [and] that n-gga sent me 10 bands. “Like ‘[just in case] for anytime I can’t answer, [you] best get out this bitch-ass marijuana. I won’t treat you like my girl,'” she said.
“Uzi is a little shit talking little n-gga,” he said. “I had high hopes for him to be very different. That’s my little brother.
Greedo told his supporters after being freed that his newfound “freedom” came with certain restrictions and that he would have to spend up to six months in a halfway house with just one five-minute call each week.
To make up for lost time, the rapper promised to “flood the rap game” with a number of projects before his next studio album, making it plain that he had no intention of slowing down.
When he was released from prison, he admitted on Instagram that he was still not really free. If anyone is still unclear, I am staying in a halfway home for up to six months and making one five-minute phone conversation each week. I just want to see my baby and make music where I am. While I was overseas, I wish I could have released a lot more music.
It appears that he maintained his word. He produced a project aptly titled Free 03. in the days preceding his release from jail.
The 14-track tape, which was created in partnership with producer Mike Free, includes appearances by the late Drakeo The Ruler, BlueBucksClan, OhGeesy, and KenTheMan.
The rapper’s initial post-prison album, titled Halfway There, was released in March. The album features a variety of musicians, including Ty Dolla $ign, Maxo Kream, Babyface Ray, and more.
