Google has introduced new filters to its Google Meet desktop app, aiming to enhance your appearance during virtual meetings. These filters, initially available on the mobile app, come in two varieties: subtle and smoothing. The subtle filter offers a touch of complexion smoothing, eye whitening, and under-eye lighting, while the smoothing filter intensifies these effects slightly. The purpose of both filters is to provide a more natural and refined look during video calls without drastically altering your appearance.
The addition of these filters responds to user feedback, with Google noting that many users have requested this feature to feel more at ease and confident during video conferences. To access the filters, users can navigate to the Settings menu in Google Meet, select “Apply visual effects,” then choose “Appearance,” and finally opt for “Portrait touch-up” to pick the desired filter.
This feature rollout is ongoing and currently available for various Google Meet subscription tiers, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Teaching & Learning Upgrade, as well as individual Google One and Google Workspace subscribers.
