Google Expands AI Mode With New Reservation Feature.

Google is rolling out a new agentic capability in AI Mode that helps users find restaurants and make reservations. By entering details such as party size, date, time, location, and cuisine, AI Mode generates a curated list of restaurants with available slots. Each listing includes a short AI-generated summary of what the spot is known for. Once a slot is selected, users are redirected to the restaurant’s booking page to complete the reservation.

The feature works through Project Mariner and integrates with platforms like OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, and Booksy. For now, it is only available to subscribers of the $250-per-month Google AI Ultra plan in the US who join the Agentic experiment in Labs.

Google previously tested similar technology with Duplex in 2019, which could make calls to book appointments but raised concerns and was later discontinued.

Alongside reservations, Google is adding personalization features to AI Mode. Dining suggestions will reflect user history, including past searches, Maps activity, and chat interactions. Users can disable this personalization in account settings if they prefer. A new share button has also been added, allowing curated AI responses to be shared through public links for others to pick up and continue the search.

AI Mode, which was first introduced to users in the US, UK, and India earlier this year, is now expanding to 180 additional countries and regions.
