Google has made it easier to share NotebookLM notebooks and AI-generated podcasts using public links. Similar to Google Docs, users can now click the Share button, set notebook access to “Anyone with the link,” and copy the URL to share. This update replaces the previous method, which required entering individual email addresses.
At launch, these links only allow view access. Recipients can see the content, read FAQs, listen to audio overviews, and ask follow-up questions, but cannot edit. To enable editing, users still need to manually add email addresses and switch permissions from Viewer to Editor.

NotebookLM launched in 2023 as a web experiment and recently expanded to Android and iOS. It allows users to compile documents, PDFs, audio, websites, and YouTube links into notebooks, offering summaries, follow-up Q&A, and even simulated audio discussions.
Recent updates include the ability to interrupt bot-generated Audio Overviews with user questions and the addition of a Discover Sources button, which helps users begin projects by generating relevant sources based on a short topic description.
