US-based music rights investment firm GoldState Music has expanded its holdings with two acquisitions totaling approximately $200 million. The firm purchased music publishing and royalty income catalogs from CatchPoint Rights Partners and AMR Songs, according to Billboard (Nov. 27).
Founded in 2022 by industry veteran Charles Goldstuck, GoldState focuses on steady income streams over high-profile, expensive catalogs. The CatchPoint portfolio features hits like Kanye West’s Flashing Lights, Sheryl Crow’s If It Makes You Happy, and Panic! At The Disco’s I Write Sins Not Tragedies. AMR Songs’ catalog includes John Sebastian’s Lovin’ Spoonful works, such as Summer in the City and Do You Believe in Magic, along with music from SOJA, Macy Gray, and Ivan Neville.
Both portfolios generate $14 million annually, split equally between active (publishing/master rights) and passive (royalty) income streams. Following the acquisition, AMR co-founder Tamara Conniff and some of her team have joined GoldState’s staff.
GoldState’s financial backing comes from investors like Flexpoint Ford and Regions Bank. The firm’s growth includes projects such as TouchTunes, The Sanctuary recording studio in The Bahamas, and Create Music Group, where it participated in a $165 million funding round in June.
