Global Celebration For Freedom Event To Ring In Juneteenth With Coi Leray, Miguel, & More

This year’s Global Celebration For Freedom Event will serve as the Juneteenth kickoff, featuring Coi Leray, Miguel, and several other well-known performers.

On June 19 at 8 p.m. EST, the Los Angeles Greek Theatre will host Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom. The event will be live-streamed internationally on all CNN platforms and domestically on the OWN network.

At 7 p.m. EST, pre-show coverage will start. According to a press release, Coi Leray, Miguel, Kirk Franklin, Davido, SWV, and Jodeci will also be present.

A variety of Black musicians performed at the festival the year before, including Billy Porter, Earth, Wind & Fire, Jhené Aiko, Yolanda Adams, and Lucky Daye, among others.

Adam Blackstone and Questlove, who both contributed to the Grammys’ Hip Hop 50 celebration and are both Grammy and Emmy Award winners, will serve as the event’s musical directors.

Chris Licht, the chairman and CEO of CNN Worldwide, discussed the impending event in a formal statement.

The dramatic Juneteenth event will be streamed on our platforms once more thanks to our partnership with Live Nation Urban, Licht said. “We want to be a place where people can go to understand and observe a holiday of this magnitude,” the speaker said.

“OWN is honored to simulcast this year’s concert,” he continued. Our audience continues to place a lot of value on Juneteenth, and because of this, participating in the simulcast feels like a great way to give back.

The oldest commemoration commemorating the abolition of slavery in the United States is Juneteenth. Just one day after the Senate unanimously approved the legislation, the “Juneteenth National Independence Day Act” was passed by Congress in June 2021. President Biden quickly signed the legislation into law.

In related news, Coi Leray has faced questions about her artistic ability from reviewers and wants people to know she’s “that girl.”

A few weeks ago, the young rapper responded to those who questioned her trustworthiness in a series of tweets and praised herself for not caring what critics say, whether they are present on stage or not.
