Giveon revealed on May 28 via Instagram that his second album, ‘Beloved’, will be released on July 11. He shared that he spent over a thousand days working on the project, emphasizing his growth as both an artist and a person.
The announcement follows the release of the album’s lead single, “Twenties,” which came out in March and reached No. 6 on the Hot R\&B Songs chart. The single also marked the five-year anniversary of his debut EP, ‘Take Time’.
‘Take Time’ was nominated for Best R\&B Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards. Giveon’s first full-length album, *When It’s All Said and Done*, came out in October 2020 and reached the top 10 on the R\&B charts. Since then, he has mostly stayed out of the spotlight, aside from his feature on Justin Bieber’s 2021 hit “Peaches,” focusing on creating ‘Beloved’.
In a March interview with Billboard, Giveon explained that during this period, he drew inspiration from various art forms and life experiences, all of which influence his autobiographical music. He described a new sense of responsibility in his work, noting how his music impacts listeners.
