Gang Starr Have Something New Coming This Week, Reveals Dj Premier

This coming week, according to Gang Starr’s DJ Premier, the venerable Hip Hop group will release new music. On Saturday (June 24), Preemo used Instagram to tease the new release from the legendary rap duo composed of himself and the late Guru, posting a picture that looked like an Egyptian tablet with the group’s name and faces on it.

The Grammy-winning producer merely captioned the image, “Monday,” without providing any other information on what fans might be able to anticipate from them, such as an album, single, video, book, or anything else they might be working on.

Pete Rock and Cormega, two of Gang Starr’s contemporaries, just posted emojis in the comments area to express their enthusiasm for what the duo has in store.

For the sake of himself and Guru, who went away in 2010 from melanoma, a type of skin cancer, DJ Premier has put forth a lot of effort to keep Gang Starr’s name alive. One of the Best Yet, the group’s most recent full-length album, came out in 2019. HipHopDX rated the album 4.2 out of 5 at the time.

Preemo talked about how Travis Scott’s father, Jaques Webster Sr., was one of his first creative influences during an earlier this week interview with Idea Generation.

About his acquaintance, the Texas native remarked, “We call him Jack.” Jack has a sister named Sonora and a brother named Travis who live right across the street from each other. His mother taught English to me.

“As I grew older, approaching almost junior high, we’d go over to the Websters’ house anyhow because they had a VCR — they were the first ones I knew with a VCR — and they’d tape Soul Train,” he recalled. “Yo, I can watch Soul Train over and over again,” I’d say.

“I’d go over there and Jack’s playing the drums, like killin’ it,” he remarked. And Travis was playing the bass, which are still two of my main musical influences when I make beats.
