The rapper has been candid about his issues with mental health in recent years. He talked to HipHopDX about his experiences before his PTSD album came out in 2020.

G Herbo (actual name Herbert Randall Wright III) and two other men were detained in 2018 when their limo driver reported them to the authorities for carrying weapons. According to the police, Herbo was in possession of a Fabrique National.

He was detained because the weapon he was using had 30 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. Herb was hesitant to talk to a therapist at first, but he eventually found it helpful.

At the time, he admitted, “To be honest, I wasn’t used to going to share my concerns with anybody, so I already didn’t believe it was something that I would want to do. “That was probably my first introduction to me embracing my PTSD, but we’re so immune to a lot of this stuff that goes on in the inner city with like violence, going to jail, and all that kind of shit.”
