Future began 2023 with the same vigor he used to end 2022, releasing a new video to further the campaign for his ninth studio album.
On Monday, January 2, the rapper released the official video for “BACK TO THE BASICS,” making it the ninth track from I NEVER LIKED YOU to receive a video release. In keeping with the song’s title, the video makes sparse use of visual elements to convey Future’s mood while retaining an impression of opulence through the use of the exotic locals.
Future may be seen rapping alone in majority of the shots as the song progresses, including on a yacht and along a beach. In keeping with his reputation with ladies, the rapper is occasionally accompanied by three female companions who are also sporadically spotted just talking with one another and taking advantage of the beachfront location’s facilities.

The premiere of the video came just days after it was revealed that Future was the only rapper to spend the entire year 2022 at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts, in large part because to the success of the April release of I NEVER LIKED YOU.
