'Funny' Story From Fabolous Shares About Kobe Bryant Readying For 'trade It All' Video Shoot

Recently, Fabolous told a touching but humorous tale about the late Kobe Bryant and the day he showed up during the filming of the “Trade It All” music video.

The NBA legend was warmly recalled by the Brooklyn rapper while listening to The Starting Five podcast on Saturday (June 3), which was about basketball fashion in Hip Hop (and, specifically, the wearing of basketball jerseys).

“Kobe came to the video,” claimed Fabolous. In Venice Beach, California, that is. I don’t believe he entered the scene while I was wearing the jersey, but he came nonetheless.

The hilarious aspect of him showing up for the shoot, he continued, was that everyone was anticipating Kobe’s arrival. Ask him if he wants to make a cameo appearance in the video, [DJ]Clue advised. “I ain’t asking Kobe that,” I retorted. You query him. Kobe responded “naw” when the man went up to question him, you know? “I just came to give Fab some love.” I believe that Clue was having a wonderful moment and wanted to make it even better. The sky’s the limit. But gosh, it was cool. His jersey was on me.

On January 26, 2020, a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, claimed the life of the former NBA player. The whole airplane crew and passengers perished.

Despite acting as swiftly as they could, the emergency services were unable to save anyone’s life. Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna was one of the victims, according to senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowksi.

He tweeted, “Sources: Kobe Bryant was traveling with his daughter Gianna to a trip basketball game when the helicopter crashed. Another player and a parent were also on board the chopper.

Bryant had a well-known history of using helicopters to travel. When he was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, he frequently took his Sikorsky S-76 helicopter from Newport Beach, California, to the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Bryant made 18 All-Star teams throughout the course of his 20-year Lakers career. He was selected in the first round of the 1996 draft, went on to win five NBA titles, two NBA Finals MVP awards, and the league MVP award in 2008.
