Cam’ron and Ma$e have performed their timeless hit “Horse & Carriage” for the first time live, nearly 25 years after the song’s initial release.
The historic performance occurred on Saturday at the Apollo Theater during the two Harlem natives’ one-night-only concert with Jadakiss (January 28). The concert, which was described as “an investigation of what’s new, now, and next in music, dance, art, and ideas,” was part of the venue’s 2022–2023 The Next Movement season.
An ecstatic Jadakiss can be heard declaring the “first time ever” performance in a video posted to social media before Cam’Ron cautions the audience.
“Imma keep it a hundred: I ain’t do this song in so long,” he said. “So Imma just act like y’all know it and do a little bit of this [dance].” To which Ma$e added, “Yo, we never got to perform this song. We never got to perform this.”
Ma$e was one of Bad Boy Records’ greatest stars when “Horse & Carriage” was first released in 1998, therefore his presence on Cam’s debut single was a huge endorsement. The two had grown apart by the time the song was released, despite the fact that they had been childhood friends and had started out in the music industry together as members of the band Children Of The Corn.
