For "Lift Me Up," Rihanna Receives Her First Oscar Nomination

With her first Academy Award nomination for her most recent hit, “Lift Me Up,” Rihanna has added another honor to her collection.

The moving Chadwick Boseman tribute song, which was included in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, will compete in the Best Original Song category of the awards.

Co-writers Ryan Coogler and Tems, who also served as the film’s director, as well as producer Ludwig Goransson, are also listed among RiRi’s co-authors.

Below, you can hear “Lift Me Up”:

Lady Gaga, a fellow pop icon who contributed “Hold My Hand” to Top Gun: Maverick, and Diane Warren, who worked on “Applause” from Tell It Like a Woman, appear to be Rihanna’s main rivals. Warren has been nominated 14 times in this category.
