For Her Hotly Contested Next Album, "The Age Of Pleasure," Janelle Monáe Unveiled The Cover Art In Its Uncensored Topless Form.

With Janelle Monáe’s new album, The Age Of Pleasure, there is a lot to consider. The damp t-shirt teaser video, the revealing “Lipstick Lover” video, and Monáe’s NSFW flashing video (the music’s terrific, too, by the way) have all made it the talk of the music world over the past few days.

The album cover, which shows a topless Monáe swimming in the water, is what has so far gone largely unnoticed. A pixellation technique was used to hide Monáe’s nipples in earlier iterations of the cover, but today (May 12), they took to social media to unveil the more openly explicit version. The uncensored, NSFW version of Monaé’s tweet can be viewed here, while the censored version can be found below.

She also revealed the identities of the individuals in the shot in later tweets. She gives credit to Mason Rose as the photographer, herself and Chuck Lightning for the creative direction, Briana Garrido for the production, and Joe R Perez and Free Marseille for the art direction and design.
