Fetty Wap’s team announced that the rapper will release a new single titled “Forever (71943509)” on Friday, May 9. The news was shared via his social media accounts on May 7, alongside a petition calling for his release from prison.
The post stated, “His freedom was taken, but not his voice,” emphasizing the emotional tone of the track. It described the song as a personal and raw expression from Fetty Wap, reflecting on his experience behind bars. The team also launched a campaign seeking a pardon for the rapper, who has been incarcerated since 2023.
“Forever” will be Fetty Wap’s first release since his imprisonment. He was arrested in 2021 and later pled guilty to conspiring to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine. Prosecutors linked him to a drug trafficking operation that moved large quantities from California to Long Island. He was sentenced to six years in prison.
The new release follows renewed interest in Fetty Wap’s music. His 2015 single “Again” recently surged in popularity on TikTok, reaching No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 in February after fans began using the track in speaker-based nostalgia videos.
