Fat Joe Still Listens To Biggie ‘every Single Day Of My Life’

The Notorious B.I.G. has received flowers from Fat Joe, who claims that he plays at least one song by the late Brooklyn icon every day of the week.

The Terror Squad leader discussed how he arranged for Biggie and Bone Thugs N Harmony to work together on “Notorious Thugs” during a sit-down with Angie Martinez for Iconic Records, which first aired on Monday (June 5). He also discussed how his admiration for Big Poppa led to the initial introduction.

He said to the venerable New York radio presenter, “I’ll never forget it — it was great for Hip Hop, that’s crazy.” And then, when Big died — when he was killed — Steve Lobel phoned me. He was the one who made the call. When he said, “Yo, Biggie died,” I said, “Yo, no way.” In the Bronx, I was present. Thus, Steve Lobel called me on the phone, telling me that for the first time.

“I’ll tell you how you sum up this entire Jerry Springer moment,” he said, “and whether we like to acknowledge it or not, New Yorkers are incredibly tough and have thick skin. But when they took Big, they ripped the apple’s heart out. You realize? He is New York City’s DNA, logo, and everything else. Not only in Brooklyn; Biggie is extremely popular throughout the entire city.

It will always leave us with a bad taste. We won’t ever go past it. I put on Biggie Smalls every time I have a good time, whether I’m on a yacht or celebrating life, or whenever I want to feel happy. Every day of my life, I hear a song by Biggie Smalls.

Fat Joe has previously revealed information on how he helped arrange one of the most illustrious partnerships in Hip Hop history.

The Bronx rapper uploaded a throwback photo of himself posted up alongside Biggie, Lil Kim, Diddy, and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony back in the ’90s in March, when fans and musicians alike were honoring the life of The Notorious B.I.G. on the 25th anniversary of his passing.

Joe captioned the photo, “Fun fact i got a call from BIG and he said joe i need your boys BONE on a song.” “I told them to stop talking, Bone N Biggie Bone N Biggie,” 25 years from now, we will still never forget THE KING OF NY. I love you BIG.

The second disc’s opening track is “Notorious Thugs” from Biggie’s second album, Life After Death. The hard-hitting song was co-written by the Bad Boy rapper and Bone Thugs, and it was produced by Stevie J and Diddy.

The Cleveland rap group’s manager, Steve Lobel, confirmed Joey Crack’s role in getting the men together in an interview with HipHopDX in 2015.

“Fat Joe calls and tells me that Puff Daddy will call me. I believe Puff called Fat Joe because he was aware that I used to work with Fat Joe and that our relationship was strong, Lobel recalled. “I collaborated with Big Pun and Fat Joe. ‘Big’s at the Record Plant and he wants to do a song with Bone,’ Puff remarked over the phone. Okay, let me round these men up, I said.
