Check out “Parkour” by Erick The Architect, who collaborated with James Blake to record his first single of the year, below.
On Tuesday, July 11, the renowned British artist and the Flatbush Zombies rapper/producer jointly released a brand-new song that examines the Brooklyn native’s move to the West Coast.
The new single, according to Erick The Architect, “speaks on what it was like to make that move and why I did it—but not forgetting that where I’m from is integral to my growth.”
Even though this is Erick’s first solo album of the year, he has guest starred on a number of different artists’ songs during 2023. He appeared on the songs “Candle Flame” by Jungle, “Scream” by Whyte Fang, and Kimbra’s most recent album.
Meechy Darko, a fellow member of the Flatbush Zombies who released his debut solo album, Gothic Luxury, last August, released his “Get Lit or Die Tryin'” remix last month.
The Zombies’ third and final member, Zombie Juice, released his debut solo album, Love Without Conditions, in April. It features the songs “Dizzy” and “Terpalation.” The rapper staged a sold-out album release concert at the Peppermint Room in Los Angeles to mark the occasion.
Meechy disclosed that the trio had “40 new songs” in the works in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX last year. Some of these tracks will be included on their upcoming James Blake-assisted album.
Because they are the producers, “[Zombie Juice] and Erick are busy men, so it’s on them,” Darko remarked. I’m not going to put any burden on myself; all I can do is rap when they provide me a rhythm. To be honest, there are many songs available whenever they are ready. Damn, I want to say, but I don’t want to.
“Let’s just say overall between shit we did with RZA, the shit we did with James Blake, the shit we did with ourselves, shit we did with ourselves, 40 songs, maybe?” he concluded. I have no idea if you see me. It’s 40; perhaps four the following time. I’m not sure.
