Eli Manning’s rap song rendered Lil Wayne speechless, and he took the opportunity to criticize the former New York Giants quarterback’s vocal prowess.
On Monday night, Weezy joined Eli and Peyton Manning as a special guest on ESPN’s Manningcast to watch his beloved Green Bay Packers play the Los Angeles Rams in a regular season game (December 19).
A video of Eli channeling his inner-rapper as part of a recent New York Giants remix of Fivio Foreign’s “1 On 3” was displayed to the New Orleans rapper during the performance. The 41-year-old was wearing a yellow designer dress and a gold Cuban link chain when the video showed him spitting some bars in the studio.
“First of all, Eli, when I saw that, I just saw a picture of that first,” Wayne explained after struggling to find the right words to describe his reaction. “When I saw the picture, I was like, ‘Wait, is this how Eli really dress in his off time for real?’
“I didn’t know what was going on. I saw the Cuban around your neck. I’m glad I actually saw a video of what that was all about. But you killed it. You killed it. Yeah, you killed that.”
He continued: “Somebody ended up sending me a full-body picture of it and then I saw that you had on some khakis or something. That’s when I knew this must be a spoof or something.”
Eli Manning said that Tunechi inspired his surprise introduction into the rap game before establishing his credentials as a Weezy fan, despite the fact that he might not appear to be your typical Lil Wayne supporter.
“I wasn’t watching a lot of Lil Wayne, but I was listening to him,” he said. “I was listening to ‘A Milli,’ I was listening to ‘Fireman,’ I was listening to ‘Stuntin’ Like My Daddy’ — that’s my personal favorite.”
“Stuntin’ Like Archie,” Wayne joked in response, referencing Eli and Peyton’s father, who was also a star NFL quarterback in the ’70s and ’80s.
In other parts of his 10-minute performance, Lil Wayne discussed how the Packers’ victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV in 2011 was one of the most significant and unforgettable experiences of his life.
Weezy departed the broadcast ecstatic after the Packers easily defeated the Rams 24–12 on a chilly night at Lambeau Field to maintain their tenuous NFC playoff aspirations.
