Drake has publicly called for Tory Lanez to be released from prison, sharing a petition on Instagram asking California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon the Canadian rapper. Lanez is serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.
Drake wrote, “@torylanez come home soon,” alongside the petition link. He has continued supporting Lanez since his conviction, previously posting “3 you” with Lanez’s photo last year.
Drake also appeared to reference the incident on his 2022 track “Circo Loco,” which sparked backlash from Megan. She responded sharply online, accusing rappers of using her trauma for clout and failing to support Black women.
Megan later seemed to address Drake again on her 2024 track “Hiss,” with lyrics aimed at male rappers who criticize women but lack authenticity. Meanwhile, Lanez recently survived a prison stabbing that left him with two collapsed lungs; he’s expected to recover.
