Drake Refused Beat For A$AP Rocky's "1train" Hit-Boy Reveals

Hit-Boy has provided some details on the beat he created for A$AP Rocky’s “1Train,” an all-star track from the Harlem rapper’s first album.

Long. Live. was published on January 15, 2013. A$AP sold 139,000 equivalent units in its first week of release, propelling him to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. “Goldie,” “Fuckin’ Problems,” “Wild for the Night,” and “Fashion Killa” are among its singles.

Hit-“1Train,” Boy’s another standout tune on the album, is produced by him. Verse contributions from Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, and Big K.R.I.T. are included in the fast-paced posse track.

The rhythm was initially provided to Drake, who declined it because he already had something similar on the album he was working on at the time, which, based on the time period, was probably 2013’s Nothing Was the Same, the producer of the song claims.

“First person I sent this beat to was Drake,” Hit-Boy tweeted on Sunday (January 15). “He said he already had a joint on his album with a similar sound.”

He continued: “So at the end of my session wit rocky for ‘goldie’ i played 1train instrumental and he took it and made it what is it.”

Hit-Boy, who also produced “Goldie” on Rocky’s debut album, which marked its tenth anniversary on Sunday, later said that not everyone was aware of his beat-chopping abilities.
