Alongside London rapper Central Cee, Drake visited On The Radar Radio and performed a brand-new freestyle during which he likened himself to several historical figures.
Drizzy took the stage first in the song, which was recorded earlier this week and released on Friday (July 21) after being released, and touched on a few love interests as well as the deaths of historical figures like Jesus and Julius Caesar.
Drake rhymes over the sped-up Jodeci sample, saying, “But we know some demon guys with jealous and evil eyes/ You know that’s how Jesus died, you know that’s how Julius Caesar died/ I bet they were decent guys/ I swear they remind me of me sometimes.”
As individuals try to smear his name, Drake is essentially saying that he is aware of the bullseye that is on his back as a figurehead in the Hip Hop community.
Regarding the historical parallels, Jesus was crucified on the cross while a group of senators assassinated Julius Caesar, a Roman general. Both suffered for their religious convictions.
After two minutes, Central Cee entered and demonstrated his artistic development while holding his own on the freestyle front. He even mentioned Opium’s Destroy Lonely and Ken Carson.
“What goes up must come down/ So when you’re in the air, prepare for the landing/ I did everything I could for the hood so how could they say I don’t care for the man/ Crib so big I might get out of breath if I walk too quickly up the stairs in the mansion,” he brags. Although I’ve come a long way, Ken Carson is not me. I sell them opium on my Lonely.
