Dj Dahi, A Long-Time Producer For Kendrick Lamar, Will Re-imagine The National Anthem In A New Documentary

In a forthcoming documentary produced in collaboration with Onyx Collective, Proximity Media, and This Machine, DJ Dahi, a producer who has worked with Kendrick Lamar for years, will reimagine the National Anthem.

In the documentary Anthem, Dahi and composer Kris Bowers “journey across America to create a new sound, inspired by what our country’s national anthem may be if composed in today’s time,” according to a report from Deadline.

Along with Ryan Coogler, Kris Bowers, Sean Havey, Chris L. Jenkins, Elise Pearlstein, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian serving as producers, Peter Nicks will also serve as the documentary’s director.

For those who don’t know, DJ Dahi is credited with producing some of the biggest hip-hop songs, like Big Sean’s “I Don’t Fuck With You” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Money Trees.” He had a busy year in 2022, earning credits on films like Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers by K. Dot, Wasteland by Brent Faiyaz, Gemini Rights by Steve Lacy, and SZA’s SOS, among others.

The Anthem documentary and Questlove’s untitled Sly and the Family Stone movie will both be broadcast on Onyx Collective. Sly and the Family Stone’s life and legacy will be examined in the illustrious drummer’s documentary, which also details the rise, dominance, and demise of one of pop music’s most significant figures.
