Disney and YouTube Reach Multi-Year Deal to End Channel Blackout on YouTube TV

Disney and YouTube have reached a multi-year agreement to restore ABC, ESPN, and other channels to YouTube TV, ending a blackout that began in late October. The deal also allows Disney+ and Hulu bundle content to be shared on the platform.

Disney Entertainment co-Chairmen Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, along with ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro, said the agreement “recognizes the tremendous value of Disney’s programming and provides YouTube TV subscribers with more flexibility and choice.” Subscribers should see channels returning almost immediately, with full access, including recordings, within 24 hours.

The blackout occurred amid a dispute over rates, with Disney claiming YouTube TV was not paying fair prices, while YouTube said Disney had threatened a blackout to encourage higher fees and potentially drive subscribers toward Hulu+ Live TV and Fubo. YouTube TV previously promised a $20 credit for prolonged disruption; its base subscription costs $82.99 per month.

YouTube TV is the largest internet TV provider in the U.S., with over 9 million subscribers. The restored access ensures fans can enjoy major programming, including college football, without interruption.
