Deezer has revealed that 10,000 fully AI-generated tracks are uploaded to its platform daily, making up 10% of its daily content delivery. To address this, the company has introduced an AI music detection tool capable of identifying tracks created by models like Suno and Udio. Deezer is also working on expanding the tool to detect content from other generative models, even without specific datasets.
Most AI-generated tracks on Deezer remain unstreamed, but the platform recognizes the risk of catalog dilution and potential fraudulent activity. To mitigate these issues, Deezer plans to develop an AI tagging system and exclude AI-generated content from algorithmic and editorial recommendations.
“Generative AI has the potential to positively impact music creation and consumption,” said Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier. “But its use must be guided by responsibility and care to safeguard the rights and revenues of artists and songwriters.”
Deezer’s catalog now includes over 120 million tracks, surpassing Spotify’s 100 million. As AI music continues to grow, the company is focused on maintaining a balance between innovation and protecting human artistry.
