D’Angelo, Meek Mill, and Lenny Kravitz will headline the 2025 Roots Picnic, marking the festival’s 17th edition.
Curated by The Roots and produced with Live Nation Urban, the festival returns to The Mann in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, on May 31 and June 1. Presale tickets open on February 18 at 10 a.m. ET, with general sales starting February 21 at 10 a.m. ET via the official Roots Picnic website.
This year marks Meek Mill’s first Roots Picnic appearance. He was previously set to headline in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic led to a virtual edition. D’Angelo last performed at the festival in 2016, and Kravitz arrives fresh off his latest album, Blue Electric Light.
The 2025 lineup will also celebrate key anniversaries. Jeezy will honor 20 years of Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, Musiq Soulchild will mark 25 years of Aijuswanaseing, and The Roots will perform a set highlighting 30 years of Do You Want More?!!!??!
J. Period’s Live Mixtape returns with Black Thought, Pusha T, and 2 Chainz. Adam Blackstone and Jagged Edge will collaborate for a special performance, while Crystal Waters and Cece Peniston join Rich Medina’s Black House set. CeeLo Green will also perform on Baller Alert’s go-go stage.
Additional performers include GloRilla, Miguel, Tems, Latto, Kaytranada, Elmiene, Lay Bankz, Funk Flex, Diamond Kuts, and Laila.
This year, Roots Picnic will also introduce new day party events, including Trap Karaoke, Chill Vibes with DJ Active, Doo-Wop …That R&B Party, Dear Summer Festival, Kirk Franklin’s Sunday School, Philly Black Pride, and more.
Last year’s festival showcased a broad spectrum of Black music. André 3000 performed his Grammy-nominated jazz album New Blue Sun, Shaboozey highlighted the Black country wave, and Sexyy Red made her Roots Picnic debut. The 2024 headliners included Lil Wayne, André 3000, Nas, and Jill Scott.
