Christian Mobley, founder of CooperativeGlobal.com, has unveiled a new start-up aimed at supporting Black-owned businesses through philanthropy, with a focus on connecting with Black consumers. Cooperative Global is a nonprofit business directory designed to help Black entrepreneurs build sustainable enterprises while addressing the root causes of poverty affecting Black families worldwide.
“At Cooperative Global, we believe in ‘giving to receive,’” Mobley says. “Our mission is to enable Black entrepreneurs to use their membership fees to fund charitable programs that directly tackle poverty in Black communities.” A key initiative of the start-up is the “Homelessness and Unaffordable Housing” (H.U.H) program, which aims to eradicate homelessness for Black families by offering affordable housing that becomes rent-free over time.
The H.U.H. program uses membership dues to acquire or construct apartment buildings, which are then rented to Black families at reduced rates, with the ultimate goal of eliminating rent altogether. Mobley highlights that solving housing insecurity is vital to strengthening the relationship between Black businesses and consumers. “By ending homelessness for Black families, we create a lasting, positive bond between businesses and their customers,” Mobley states.
In exchange for affordable housing support, Black families are encouraged to prioritize shopping with Cooperative Global’s member businesses, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship. “Through charity, we bring entrepreneurs new customers,” Mobley explains. “Our platform is built to establish strong, long-term economic ties between Black business owners and the communities they serve.”
The advantages for Cooperative Global members are significant. The start-up seeks to build a loyal, private customer base of Black consumers that spans generations and regions. Members also benefit from an enhanced public reputation, increased visibility through philanthropic efforts, and a system designed to attract new customers. Cooperative Global’s work will contribute to wealthier Black communities, giving members a competitive edge over foreign competitors.
Black families will also reap various benefits, including a better standard of living, lower living costs, and reduced poverty. The start-up’s initiatives will help build stronger communities by lowering crime rates and creating institutions focused on increasing family wealth and health. “Together, we can uplift Black families and strengthen communities,” adds Mobley.
CooperativeGlobal.com’s ultimate vision is to collaborate with over one million Black entrepreneurs globally who share the goal of increasing profits while improving the quality of life for Black families. “If you’re a Black entrepreneur looking to make a positive impact, join us at Cooperative Global,” Mobley encourages.
