Chance the Rapper Announces August 15 Release Date for Second Album Star Line.

Chance the Rapper has confirmed that his long-awaited second album, Star Line, will be released on August 15. The announcement was made through his official website, where fans can now pre-order the album in multiple formats.

While Chance has not yet shared the full tracklist, he recently released a song featuring Lil Wayne and Smino, though it’s unclear whether the track will appear on the final project. Star Line will be his first studio album since 2019’s The Big Day, which received mixed reactions from listeners.

The Chicago rapper has been referencing Star Line for several years, but delayed its release due to concerns about how fans were discussing his music. In a video posted last year from his tour bus, Chance asked followers to refer to the album by name rather than calling it “the album.”

“I’m not finna drop the album until y’all start calling it Star Line,” he said. “I’m not gonna drop the project, I’m not gonna do these installations — I got so much ready. But I hope that y’all understand that.”

Chance explained that referring to it simply as “the album” made it feel like listeners were overlooking his artistic intentions. “What I’m doing is something different. It’s something very specific. It’s called Star Line,” he said. He added that if fans consistently refer to it by its proper title, it might encourage him to release the album sooner.

With a release date now set, fans can expect more information and promotional material in the coming weeks.
