Central Cee Crowned Hip Hop's Rookie Of The Year By Kevin Durant

The year has been fairly good for Central Cee so far, and it just got better with the MC’s recent sponsorship deal with Kevin Durant.

Tuesday, July 25, saw the release of a clip from the final installment of Taylor Rooks’ Inside RapCaviar, which included KD, Hit-Boy, and Boi-1da. The Phoenix Suns forward chose London’s Central Cee when the topic of “Rookie of the Year” came up, whereas the other two guests both selected American acts.

The panel even brought up the similarities between rap and basketball while comparing the two genres, to which Durant said, “Same game, in my opinion.”

According to the most recent RapCaviar update, Ice Spice, who previously hinted at a collaboration with her British counterpart, is Central Cee’s closest competitor on the Rookie Leaderboard. Drake and Metro Boomin are presently ranked first and second on the Most Valuable Player leaderboard, respectively. Here, voting is still open.

Although it is commonly known that Drizzy helped Ice Spice when she was just getting started, he also recently paid a visit to On the Radar Radio and performed a brand-new freestyle with Central Cee.

After two minutes, the “Loading” rapper entered and more than held his own in the freestyle round, showcasing his artistic development and even mentioning Opium’s Destroy Lonely and Ken Carson.

“What goes up must come down/ So when you’re in the air, prepare for the landing/ I did everything I could for the hood so how could they say I don’t care for the man/ Crib so big I might get out of breath if I walk too quickly up the stairs in the mansion,” he rapped. Although I’ve come a long way, Ken Carson is not me. I sell them opium on my Lonely.

This year’s UK singles chart saw Central Cee and Dave’s collaboration “Sprinter” debut at No. 1, holding the top spot for seven weeks starting in June.
