Cardi B recently apologized to fans for asking them to purchase her album while acknowledging how tough the economy has become.
During a livestream, the rapper shared that she was helping a friend look for an apartment in the Bronx when she noticed how high rent prices have become, even in what’s considered New York City’s most affordable borough. “I don’t know how people are surviving,” Cardi told fans. “I am so sorry for asking y’all to buy my album and this is how the economy is right now.”
Cardi went on to say that she hadn’t realized the extent of the issue until recently, adding, “It’s not that I don’t realize, it’s that I wasn’t paying attention.”
She also spoke about how hard it is for working individuals, single people, and students who don’t qualify for government assistance despite struggling with living costs. Cardi suggested introducing more vouchers and making food stamp access easier for those in need.
“How the fuck you motherfuckers surviving?” she asked. “Y’all gonna have to sell pussy, dick, and balls.”
