Cardi B is hitting the ground running as she prepares for the release of her long-awaited sophomore album, Am I the Drama?.
On Saturday (Sept. 6), the 32-year-old artist and recent Billboard cover star shared a video on social media showing herself staging a playful, grassroots-style promotion in New York City. In the clip, Cardi sets up shop on a busy sidewalk, laying out multiple copies of the album on a black sheet and calling out exaggerated bargain prices to people passing by.
“My label said I gotta get out in these streets and sell this album,” she wrote in the caption accompanying the video.
Dressed in a Rastacap and a black While We Wait Kehlani hoodie, Cardi waved bundles of burning incense while shouting prices in the style of a street vendor, as Bob Marley’s One Love played in the background.
“$9.99! You got $50 right here,” the rapper said, pointing to the array of albums. “$20! $9.99 for the new ones!” She added, “What up, y’all? We got the exclusive Cardi B new album. We got the vinyls, we got the CDs, we got the [Courtroom] Edition. $9.99!”
The moment drew quick responses from fellow artists. Diplo joked, “I bought fourty,” while Kehlani commented, “lmao sick hoodie twin.” Rising star Tyla also reacted, writing simply, “Girl 😂.”
Am I the Drama? is scheduled to drop on Sept. 19. The 23-track album includes both of Cardi’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles: 2020’s WAP and 2021’s Up.
Earlier this week, Cardi was honored with the 2025 Billboard Impact of the Year Award during the R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players event in Brooklyn. The recognition came as anticipation builds for her second studio project.
She also recently appeared on the cover of Billboard, where she reflected on her journey and on the anticipation surrounding her music. “I’m really one of those artists that people ask for their albums the most every year,” Cardi said. “I wouldn’t be confident if nobody asked me for my s—t. Imagine nobody asking for an album of yours? Imagine nobody asking for your music? That’s why I’m so confident.”
