It appears that Latto is aware of Cardi B’s reputation for having costly taste because she gave her “Put It Da Floor” colleague an expensive sign of appreciation.
On June 29, Bardi flaunted a $5,000 Chanel purse that the “Big Energy” hitmaker had sent her on Twitter. “This purse, though” (blue heart and startled face emojis). Thank you, @Latto,” wrote Cardi.
Latto retweeted the photo and added the message, “Love u Big Bardiiii,” to Cardi B, appearing to be pleased with her selection in gifts.
Although their new single is their first official collaboration, Latto and Cardi B have always respected one another. Latto once credited Cardi with being the primary inspiration for her live performances.
In a 2022 interview with Audacy, Latto stated, “I did Rolling Loud Miami in 2018-ish…I was one of the openers. “It was hot as hell at 3 p.m. and I waited all the way to the end for Cardi B to sing. I stayed outside in the scorching sun and I was like, ‘Nah, I wanna see Cardi perform,’ and I just saw her put on a show. It was actually entertaining, kind of. choreography and dancers.
“She really had me entertained to the point where I wasn’t caring about the heat or being on my feet all day,” she continued. I found entertainment. I then seized upon that and said, “You know what? I also want to put on a spectacle.
Bardi recently claimed that the price of her new purse is equal to the amount she spent on the music video for “Bodak Yellow,” her 2017 breakthrough hit.
The Bronx native shared some little-known facts on Twitter earlier this month along with a screenshot of the music video, which shows her in Dubai, riding camels in the desert, and interacting with lions.
Cardi told followers, “Fun fact: I spent $10,000 on the Bodak Yellow song video.
The song video, which appeared to be low-budget, reached the billion-view milestone on YouTube in 2021, making it the female rapper’s fastest-ever achievement of the milestone. Cardi B became the first female rapper to have two YouTube videos with more than a billion views, joining her 2018 track “I Like It.”
“Bodak Yellow” became the first diamond-certified single ever by a female rapper at the same time as the YouTube recognition.
