Thanks to a mystery Instagram account that appears to be dedicated to the project, Cardi B fans have reason to assume that the release of her new album may finally be imminent.
Eagle-eyed admirers spotted the Bronx-born starlet had begun following an Instagram profile with the name @albumcb2 on Thursday (January 12), reigniting anticipation for her eagerly anticipated sophomore album.
The page has over 5,000 followers as of the time of publication, even though it has not yet uploaded a post and still lacks a profile photo. Only Cardi B is followed by the account itself.
By uploading a picture of Cardi in the recording studio on its Instagram Story, the mysterious account fueled the anticipation. The rapper’s longtime collaborator and label A&R executive Brooklyn Johnny originally uploaded the image.
“Y’ALL READY?! #CardiB,” he wrote in the caption, much to the delight of his followers and Bardi Gang badge-holders alike.
The release of Cardi B’s sophomore album has been long overdue. The project has been delayed despite a trifecta of smash singles, including “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion, “Hot Shit” with Kanye West and Lil Durk, and “Up,” and grandiose claims that it will “stomp” the competition.
