Cardi B opened up about her recent lifestyle and future plans during an Instagram Live session on November 17. The Bronx rapper admitted to frequent partying, which she says has been a distraction as she navigates her divorce from Offset. However, Cardi assured fans she’s ready to refocus on her music.
“I feel like I been going outside [a lot],” she shared. “I have to. It’s like, I’m getting through a divorce so I have to enjoy myself. I gotta enjoy myself, you know what I’m saying?” She added, “But all I know is, no more outside! We gotta be inside. Chain us up to the muthafuckin’ mic!”
Cardi also addressed the delay of her long-awaited sophomore album, confirming that it will now arrive in 2025, despite earlier promises of a 2024 release. Her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, was released in April 2018, making it over six years since her first full-length project.
Reflecting on the past year, Cardi described it as tumultuous and full of change. “This has been the weirdest year I have ever experienced,” she said. “I fell in love. Then fell out of love, then got a divorce. I don’t know what the fuck is going on. I’m going through a very different transition in my life, and life is moving a little bit too fast. I don’t want to crash.”
Despite the challenges, Cardi remains optimistic about the future. She revealed plans for new music and hinted at “secret businesses” she’s working on for next year. “Next year, my album will be out, my secret businesses will be out. Hopefully, next year I get me a little boyfriend. I’m hoe-less right now. I gotta get my shit together.”
Cardi’s initial promise of a 2024 release came before she became pregnant with her third child and before her relationship struggles intensified. Since giving birth in September, she has been actively working in the studio, indicating that progress on her new music is moving forward. Fans can now look forward to her next album and other ventures in 2025.
