Caliph Honors His Grandmother With New Release “Maria Julia,” Out Now on All Platforms.

Cape Verdean artist and producer Caliph has officially dropped his latest single, “Maria Julia,” a heartfelt track dedicated to the memory of his late grandmother, Milia. Produced by Caliph himself, the record is now available on all major streaming platforms.

Sharing the news with his audience on social media, Caliph opened up about the deeply personal journey behind the song. “I pushed everything back to work on this project for my late grandmother Milia, as an ode to her and all Cape Verdean women,” he wrote, adding that she was the most influential figure in both his and his mother’s life.

“She instilled so much love, pride, culture, hard work and so many lessons into me as a kid,” he shared. “The women in our lives are usually unsung heroes but I will forever sing about her.”

Caliph’s grandmother, originally from the island of Fogo, helped raise both him and his mother while his father moved to the U.S. to create better opportunities for their family. According to Caliph, her strength, energy, and love continue to shape who he is today.

The single, which also serves as a tribute to the resilience and legacy of Cape Verdean women, was mastered by Live On Records.

To mark the release, Caliph will be celebrating at Gillette Stadium, followed by an after-party. With “Maria Julia,” Caliph adds another layer of meaning to his growing catalog, one that speaks to heritage, gratitude, and the power of family.
