After nearly three years of running under the name Bostonians Against Mayor Wu (BAMW), the popular Boston-based social media account has announced a major rebrand. Going henceforth, the account will operate as Mass Daily News Live, serving as the viral, fast-moving arm of the broader Mass Daily News platform.
According to the information shared on their page on social media, the account was first created in January 2022, at the height of the vaccine passport rollout in Boston. Protests outside Mayor Michelle Wu’s home were making headlines, and what began as a personal “burner” account with a pointed name quickly grew into something much larger.
“There was no grand plan, no strategy,” the account’s founder explained. “It was just an alt with a snarky name. And then it took off.”

Bostonians Against Mayor Wu is officially coming to a close. This account is now Mass Daily News Live.
I gotta start by telling you how this all started. Because honestly? It’s kind of stupid. Back in January 2022, Wu was rolling out vaccine passports, people were… pic.twitter.com/Gf7CoCiwYg
Over time, the account became a go-to source for raw Boston content…covering politics, protests, viral clips, and local chaos that often found its way into national news cycles.
While BAMW drew attention and a loyal following, the founder admitted the account’s name was limiting. “Half the time I felt ashamed even telling people it was mine,” they wrote in the announcement. “I never wanted to look like some obsessed weirdo that hated the mayor.”
The new brand, Mass Daily News, expands the mission beyond one political figure. “It’s not about one politician,” the founder emphasized. “It’s about showing Boston unfiltered, holding the city’s powerful accountable, and pushing stories into the spotlight that others ignore.”
Followers of BAMW are being reassured that the style and pace of content won’t change. Viral clips, political updates, and the city’s trademark mix of humor and chaos will remain the backbone of the page.
“Nothing about the content is going away,” the statement reads. “Boston is such a great city…but so chaotic at the same time that it’s almost too easy to pump out content.”
The rebranded account, now Mass Daily News Live, will continue to serve as the real-time, social-first wing of Mass Daily News.
“The anti-Wu era is over but the mission continues,” the founder concluded, thanking both followers and national media partners who have amplified their stories.
For Boston’s online news ecosystem, this marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, one less narrowly focused, but equally committed to pushing Boston stories into the broader spotlight.
