Boston Ujima Project to Host Workshop on Community-Controlled Energy at Frugal Bookstore.

Boston Ujima Project is bringing the conversation around energy, ownership, and sustainability to Roxbury with its upcoming Ujima Wednesday session, Light Work: Building the People’s Grid. The event takes place Wednesday, May 22 at 6 p.m. at Frugal Bookstore.

Led by Greg King of Boston Community Solar, the workshop will explore the concept of building a community-driven energy grid—an initiative rooted in energy justice and local ownership. The discussion will highlight how shared solar models are being used to shift power into the hands of residents, challenging traditional energy systems and providing a pathway for sustainable, community-based solutions.

Attendees can expect a breakdown of how Boston-based approaches are influencing wider conversations around infrastructure reform and neighborhood resilience. The event is free and open to the public, with dinner provided for guests.

Ujima Wednesdays are part of Boston Ujima Project’s ongoing series of community learning and engagement sessions, aiming to deepen local understanding of cooperative economics and grassroots solutions.
