Cleveland, where Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is from, will shortly dedicate a street to them.
According to a report from News 5 Cleveland on Tuesday (June 27), the renowned group will see the junction of East 99th Street and St. Clair Avenue renamed “Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Way” later this summer. The honor comes little over a year after supporters started a petition calling for the signage.
“There’s nothing here that pays homage to that or to the group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony,” the petition stated.
From noon to 2 p.m. on August 11, the event will take place.
Cormega praised Bone Thugs-N-Harmony earlier this month on Instagram, calling them “one of the most original rap groups ever.”
“Eazy E gave us a reminder of his smarts as a music executive before he left this earth. “Bone Thugs N Harmony was and continues to be one of the most distinctive rap groups ever,” Cormega said in the caption of a photo of the group without Flesh, who was probably in jail when it was taken. They perfectly transition tempos vocally and harmonize like a choir while also maintaining rap group precision in their lyrics.
Then, Cormega focused on two of the band’s most popular songs, “1st of tha Month” and “Tha Crossroads,” stating that the latter’s level of emotion has never been surpassed by anyone to this day.
“Their song ‘1st Of The Month’ was a catchy hit that caught my attention and their music afterwards kept my attention,” the author remarked. “Until I heard ‘Cross Roads,’ I had never heard a song about dying sound so acoustically lovely. The song gains a new dimension from the video, which is quite thought-provoking. It was a powerful emotional event that has never been surpassed.
If we’re being completely honest, they are one of the greatest rap groups of all time after selling over 14 million records to date.
In another section of the piece, Cormega noted that the only group to have worked with both 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G. before their deaths was Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, before calling the Cleveland outfit “future Hall Of Famers.”
They are the only group to have recorded a song with Biggie and Tupac, “Notorious Thugs,” and Tupac’s “Thug Luv.” Every song is great in its own way. ‘Notorious Thugs’ was melodious and unanticipated at the time, while ‘Thug Luv’ was edgy and energetic. Future Hall Of Famers Bone Thugs N Harmony should be recognized for their contribution to the genre. Greetings from #bonesthugsnharmony.
